Emergency Notification System in Osage County
Osage County uses an emergency notification system for emergency situations. Residents can expect messages during emergency situations such as hazardous weather, natural disasters, crisis notifications or any other extreme public safety incident. This system is voice activated so all that’s required for you to hear the message is to simply say hello and wait for the message. The caller ID will always be from 573-897-0911. If your phone line is busy, or there is no answer (no answering machine), the system will attempt to redial your phone number up to two additional times. If your phone line is busy or you fail to answer the call, you will not receive the notification message. It is recommended that you add your cell phone to the list.
If you’d like to add a phone number, please dial 573-897-3561, ext 220.
If you wish to be taken off the list, please fill out the waiver (click here for waiver) and mail it back to the Emergency Operations Center. Keep in mind, this document only waives weather related events, watches and warnings. Osage County may still send out emergency notifications regarding the Callaway Energy Center, AMBER Alerts/missing persons, Bagnell Dam incidents, emergency shelter locations and other emergency information. Several people have numerous phone numbers on our list. If you’d like to have the extra phone numbers removed from the list, for example, fax lines or computer lines, please fill out the waiver and mail back to our office. It may be beneficial to have more than one line available to receive these calls in the event one line it busy.
